The Bioinformatics Core (BIC) of the Institute for Biomedical Informatics (IBI) provides professional bioinformatics services that include data analysis and consultation to the University of Pennsylvania Biomedical research community. The BIC core is dedicated to the building of efficient pipelines that handle various Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, generated locally within NGSC and also elsewhere.

The BIC is also supported by IBI members whose collective areas of expertise include:

  • Bioinformatics and NGS related algorithm development
  • Human Disease Research (Diabetes, Cancer, Autism, Alzheimer’s and etc.)
  • Functional Genomics
  • Medical Informatics
  • Statistical Genetics
  • Computational Biology

We provide bioinformatics support for grant applications in all biomedical areas by drafting approaches, offering computation resources and expertise for the proposed research.
