Marylyn D. Ritchie, Ph.D.

Dr. Ritchie is the director of the Penn Institute for Biomedical Informatics (IBI), a Professor of Genetics, the Director of the Center for Translational Bioinformatics, and the Associate Director of the Center for Precision Medicine, at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine.

Li Shen, Ph.D.

Dr. Li Shen is a faculty director of Bioinformatics Core and a Professor of Informatics in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics at the Perelman School of Medicine in the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Radiology. He is a Senior Fellow at the Penn Institute for Biomedical Informatics and the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Dartmouth College.

Taehyong Kim, Ph.D.

Dr. Kim is the director of Bioinformatics Core. He has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from State University of New York at Buffalo followed by postdoctoral training at Carnegie Institution at Stanford University. He has ample experience on various computational projects including reconstructing metabolic networks from next generation sequencing (NGS) data, identifying casual genes using network analysis and developing NGS analysis pipelines. He is mainly working with investigators from Abramson Cancer Center of Penn Medicine.

Subin George, M.S. (Senior Bioinformatician)

Subin graduated with a Professional Science Master’s in Bioinformatics from Temple University. Subin has background in RNA-Seq and ChIP-Seq analyses, and he currently focuses on RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and scRNA-Seq projects.

Sijia Huang, Ph.D. (Senior Bioinformatician)

Sijia joined the IBI as a bioinformatician in May 2021. She obtained a M.S. in Biostatistics from the University of Florida and got her Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Sijia is widely interested in the regulation of the genome through the analysis of various NGS data. She is also dedicated to spatial and RNA velocity analysis in single cell data.

Linhui Chen, M.S. (Junior Bioinformatician)

Linhui graduated from Northeastern University with a Master’s in bioinformatics. She’s providing bioinformatics service for Dr. June’s lab and Dr. Ruella lab. Her focus is RNA-Seq and single cell RNA-Seq analysis.

Josh Rhoades, M.S. (Collaborative Bioinformatician)

Josh graduated from the University of Delaware with a Masters in Entomology and a Bioinformatics graduate certificate. He is a Bioinformatician in the Perelman School of Medicine’s Cardiovascular Institute, where he provides bioinformatics support for the Epstein, Jain and Arany labs.  Current main focuses are CHiP-seq and RNA-seq analysis.
